| I'll be using this thread as a tool for myself and probably the other admins to put out important news and information. So when you see it pop-up make sure you take the time to check in and read it. | |

| With both drafts finally coming to an end, the Free Agency window will be opening, with the price-list being released shortly. With that, I'm asking all GMs to insure your HQ's are up-to-date with the proper salaries listed as capgeek (signings after june 2nd don't count) as I need to manually go through and repair a large chunk of them.To keep interest and activity up in the sim, I'm looking to run a 15 game pre-season, roughly two-three weeks after Free Agency opens to give GM's a better look at their teams and thier performances. For that to happen I need teams to start, if you haven't already slating tenative lines, so I can input them into the sim. Also just a friendly reminder, at no point can you have more than 50 active contracts. Meaning if you have 50 players on contracts of a year or more, you are unable to sign or resign any other players. Impending Free Agents don't count against that number until they have a contract term, however you can't retain the rights to an in-sim player if you have no contract spots for them. The $65 million cap is flexible during the off-season/pre-season, but the contract number is not and can't be, due to a potential clusterfuck it could create. Please don't lobby for more contracts because there is simply no reason you would need more active in-sim players than 50. 50 is more than two full lineups, think about it.Also remember, Only players on ELC's and players with contracts 2.5 and under can be waived / sent to the minors.Love Bettman | |

| For the upcoming 2010-2011 season ONLY, GMs will have the opportunity to outright release up to 3 players. This is due to the roster max of 50 being strained by the dispersal draft. This will ONLY happen for this season, and players who can be dumped will be restricted. But it will allow GMs with 50 contracts to gain some relief if needed. Here are is the process works, along with the guidelines.
* Only players who fit the waiver criteria can be released. Meaning no one on an ELC (Entry Level Contract) or anyone with a cap hit above 2.5 million can be released.
* In order to be released, a player must have either passed through waivers already, or must do so. In the case of players who have already passed through the waiver wire, you can simply PM beedub with a PM using the title "TEAM - PLAYER RELEASE" with the player's name in the body of the PM. If the player has not yet passed through waivers, you waive him as you normally would but would stipulate in the body of the PM that you would like to release said player.
* Any player you release will automatically become a UFA regardless of the current state of their contract. You will be off the hook for the cap hit completely once the release is complete. By releasing the player, you are ineligible to re-sign said player for the duration of this season. Meaning you cannot release a guy and turn around and sign him for less (or at all).
* DO NOT update your HQ until you have been notified that the process is complete by beedub. |

| GM's you will notice a jump in various stats during the pre-season over the next week or so. The Pre-season is not just about finding line-combos and testing teams, it's also an opportunity for us to make important adjustments. Myself and Beedub are going to be trying different adjustments to the overall sim program to give it a more 'realistic' simming process. If you haven't noticed, right now we're averaging around 15-16 shots a game, which is incredibly low even by post-lock-out standards. So we are going to find a sweet spot for that, but at the same adjusting the defensive and checking sliders, to insure defenders and goalies aren't getting slaughtered. All these changes are done to the program as whole and not to individual teams. This is just a friendly heads-up so your not shocked and in dark, when/if shots/scoring/hitting....whatever goes up or down. | |

| Just to add to Mark's note, if hitting is up, injuries might become more of a factor. Make sure you have enough cap space for a couple of call-ups, just in case. | |

| Hey Everyone,
Just the give you the good news, we are welcome 4 new gms to the league, all of which come from another GM Sim.
So far Bushito has taken over the Blackhawks, Master took over the Thrashers and the other 2 are getting thier log-ins set-up and what not.
So as they become active take the time to welcome them and help them get settled in with the sim. | |

| Just a little note to clarify how waivers and ufa signings work.
When you sign a UFA to a contract it is always going to be a standard contract (player must pass waivers in order to be sent down to the ahl)
The player can start in the AHL without any waivers, but once they are called up they have to be put through the waiver process in order to be sent back down.
The following players are waiver exempt:
any player 23 years old or younger any player over 23 that capgeek lists as on an entry level contract (ELC) (salary is not a factor for ELC players, you can send a player making over 2.5 million per year down if he is on an ELC)
The following players are not waiver eligible:
any player who's contract was signed when they were 35 or older any player making over 2.5 million per year
a few examples:
a 28 year old on a standard contract must pass waivers to be sent down a 38 year old on a 35+ contract cannot be sent to the AHL a 25 year old on an ELC does not have to pass waivers to be sent down a 23 year old on an ELC or standard contract does not have to pass waivers to be sent down

| another note:
for those of you who use the simont client software to set your lines, please dont send players down without posting a waiver thread (sometimes the software will let you move them without putting them on waivers)
it would be appreciated if you just pm me and ill move them so there are no questions about players moving around without being waived.
thanks |

| just a quick note. the max roster size for nhl is 23 players
this doesn't count injured players but if you have guys coming back from injury you will have to make moves to fit them in. |

| as we close in on the end of the season id like to remind everyone that no goalie can start more than 72 games. so if you are getting up there for your starter its time to start using the backup. |

| Lineups...
if you have an injury on your team, submit new lines or pm me the replacement. if you do nothing, you get autolined.
if you get autolined, dont complain to me. |
